I'm no longer part of the club.  The Odyssey and the 911 both don't have tape decks.....the Porsche came with from the factory but that was many moons ago.  I'm a commoner.

Don't worry; I'll still read and answer your posts.  As an owner of a cassette deck equipped car, I have to do something for the lower classes. :run:

I'm glad the upper elite here doesn't have the snobby factor.  I've been shunned before, denied entry into country clubs, credit cards....thank you random for opening up your heart in letting me fit in.  Can I someday hear that cassette tape doohicky work?

I had my truck for 3 1/2 years before I had a reason to use the cassette deck , it works great with the XM radio ;D

Re: Semi-retired Accord: updated - 2004 Acura MDX with Navi

So, I bought a 2004 Acura MDX with Navi.  :)

I was in Ohio on Monday and Tuesday to scout out some potential purchases (my wife has regular business meetings in Cleveland, which is why I wasn't looking in NY state). I had identified a few potential vehicles ahead of time using the US Auto Trader site, called up some dealers to inquire about their familiarity with the export process, and then proceeded to go shopping.

I ended up buying an Acura-certified vehicle from an Akron area Acura dealer. This includes an extended factory warranty (which is part of the certified deal), which encompasses an additional 12 months and 12,000 miles as well as a powertrain warranty up to 100,000 miles. I was informed that this is good for US dealers...I guess we will see if I ever need to take them up on it (hopefully not).

I was able to include full winter mats, a cargo tray, installation/balancing of winter tires (not the tires themselves, mind you), as well as having the front of the hood repainted (there were a few small stone chips that were beginning to show some rust). Current miles are 49,500.

My dealer was knowledgeable of the export process and is now preparing the necessary paperwork to fax to Buffalo. I am picking it up next Friday or the following Monday. Happy with the way things went and figure I am saving in the neighbourhood of $9,000.

Pics to follow, although if someone wants to post the "this thread is worthless..." thingy, I'd feel special  ;D

Congrats! Nicely done. A quick question, did you pay cash? Or did you make financing arrangements here in Canada?  Just curious, as we're going to be purchasing something in the coming months.

Thanks Crisco...I elected to use my HELOC for this purchase, since the rate on my high-interest account is good and I can write off interest loan charges against business income. Your mileage, as they say, may vary.

I was chatting with the bank manager as they were preparing my bank draft, and she mentioned that a colleague had arranged bank financing for a US purchase. It was with TD, although I have heard CIBC offers financing for US cars, too. Financing in the US is not available for Canadian residents, as far as I know.

Don't mind Saf, he's just envious of your flakey crust...and because his car is apparently short-bus yellow.  If you don't understand him, be assured that no-one actually does ;)
