Venture van 2003 not starting
« on: November 28, 2003, 08:04:59 am »
Has anyone else had this problem or know what the problem could be. My van starts find until winter comes. In the cold weather it always starts first thing and than I will drive to the store and come out to leave about 10mins and the van will not start. It turns over, sounds like gas is not getting through. I have had the ignition wire changed and now this is my second winter with the van. I was left 3 times last year, I got to the point where I did not turn the van off when I went to the store. Now the problem has resurfaced again. No help from my dealer. They say they can not find the problem. Never will I buy a gm again. Anyone have some helpful advice.

Well they have to find the problem. That isn't an option and if they refuse to do it then get on the horn with GM.

They can intervene and should. It may be that the dealer isn't looking hard enough and perhaps another dealer might be better, but GM should make that call with you.

It's still under warranty? If so tell them to give you another vehicle until such time as they have it fixed.

If all else fails there is CAMVAP where you can negotiate with GM to either replace it or fix it. Make sure you have documentation. They have to do something.

thanks for the advice. The van is still under warranty. I have asked the dealership to call other dealers as I can not be the only one with this problem. If nothing is done I will call gm as a first step. I will keep this updated and hopefully have an answer soon.

Inco is quite correct in that GM is responsible for the problem, I would deffinitely call the GM Hot Line and scream you head off. How is the van otherwise. I would reccomd being polite though as the folks on the other end of the phone are only human to. Also ask for any and all service bulletins on your product. You have the right.

Yes, be sure to scream your head off politely.
