03 Highlander
« on: October 02, 2007, 09:56:35 pm »
I have a buddy looking at an 03 Highlander, 4WD w/package B and about 90K on it.  It's listed at 17,900.  Black book is somewhere between 13,500 and 15,700.  He said the dealer told him it was a lease return, one owner, clear of accidents.

I was suggesting he start at 15, 500 and aim for 16,500 tops, of course based on a Carfax coming back to confirm the stuff the dealer told him.  Either that or walk in with a firm 16,500 and walk out if they come back with a penny more, there's tons on Autotrader.

Does that sound like reasonable advice?

Yes, sounds reasonable to me. Too bad it's not an '04 (even if more money) as the '03 still had the 3.0L engine, not the 3.3L engine that '04 and newer have. I think it makes a difference.

My sister has a 2000 RX300, bought new, with the 3.0L, had to replace the engine twice, warranty claim, oil consumption issues. Runs OK now.

No knowledge on the cost of the 03 Highlander tho.

:o Wow. Never heard about that before. Our 98' Sienna with the 3.0L ran seamlessly (if its the same engine...)
