This links right to the story...

Sergeant Woolley said although the driver stopped Saturday will be responsible for paying for the car for an additional week, "the mileage won't be so bad" on the rental.

 :rofl2:

Also, latest numbers...

Quote
A total of 328 vehicles have been impounded so far, says OPP Sergeant Cam Woolley of the Highway Safety Division, for a minimum of $656,000 in fines.

They could have stopped in or around Cobourg, plenty of service areas on that stretch of the highway or off exits in town.

Caught speeding over 50km, no excuse. This new law has been publicised a lot.

Cup holders are ok but don't try the 12V accessory socket.   :)

Like anyone else they could have pulled over on the side of the road and the lad could have just stood between the doors on the passenger side and let loose. I am sure we have all seen it happen as its a normal human act that does occur at the wring time on occasion. Not a good enough excuse to be driving that fast at all.  :)

I don't know... I feel sorry for that guy... well, I would never be a cop. On a positive note, I like the fact that "Most speeders caught slalom between cars, which is a recipe for disaster". I wouldn't feel sorry for these a-holes.

:iagree: :iagree: When I was a kid, rest stops on the highway were few and far between. When we went on a highway trip, stopping at the side of the road to take a leak was something we did all the time. If I'd asked my old man to step on the gas because I had to pee, he'd probably still be laughing, and he's been dead for almost twenty years!  ::)

It's amazing the things people will think of to excuse their behavior.

What is funny about this is the number of "mature" drivers being caught.  As all of us enthusiasts knew would happen, it isn't all the kids in souped up cars "stunting" mommy and daddy are doing it too.

Opportunities still exist up here for speed bursts but I am far more selective than I use to be.

No surprise here; I've never seen a riced-up DX going in excess of 160km/h (maybe those cut springs make their rockets too unstable to go over 120?). Usually, those guys prefer "slalom". In my experience, Number 1 speeders are BMW owners (often, in pretty old bimmers) closely followed by Caravans and Econolines (maybe there are too many Caravans on the road, so for every 1000 normal drivers there is one "daredevil"?).

Oh, and some of these PlanetCivic kids are indeed enthusiasts; from time to time you see those souped up civics on a race track embarrassing "mature" owners of Vipers, AMGs, and S2000s. Wing, I am sure you are familiar with a kind...

Haven't met a civic faster than me on the track yet, I'm sure they are out there though ;)

One day, Wing, one day...  ;)  No, I didn't mean to say that you would be embarrassed by a capable Civic driver because you are (from what I see) are quite capable driver too, so it is a driver contest!

If it is in E36, it mostly younger guys that drive that model, less costly to buy

What I don't understand is why anyone would now purchase a Corvette or one of the new Dodges with the SRTV8 engine. (Charger or 300C). Even a Mustang GT. You just blip the throttle on those cars and your hooked up to a tow truck headed for the impound lot!

LOOK OUT IT'S WOOLEY AND HE HAS A TOW TRUCK!!

They will always sell the Big Pony type of cars as just because you have a monster under the hood dosen't mean you have to use all the time at all. The little Fartcan junkers do need to in order to keep up or try to show off just fast their scrapper is as the Vetts and the Vipers never need to. We already know they will move along right from the factory. Any little scrapper which is done up is a heat score while the others are not is another fact. The police look out for them and let guys like me go on our way in our older toys which can also have a truck load of power as well. I don't have to show it off at every street light but the little bugs do just to try and keep up.  :) ;D  :rofl2:
