I also understand that feeling as I spent 30 years with a company and ran other things on the side before I re-tired from the full time scene a year ago Jan 1st.

Most of our used work trucks are ex rentals and are bought at a very good price. Not all rentals are beat up junk. They can be very good buys.

After seeing a stock grand am turning up some fast time in autocross, I have found new respect for Pontiac.

I don't consider myself an exeptional driver, but for autocross, I believe the car is way underrated. I managed a 9th overall out of 44 cars in the local club's last solo of the year using a stock Alero whith 80,000 KM on the clock, and the car does not have the upgraded suspension either.

Just swapped a 2002 for 2004 Grand AM GT. They have significantly improved the steering feel and the suspension. I could see someone doing well in it class with this thing on the track.
I still hate the seats though.

Wired up some pretty lights in the footwell of an 2000 Alero. Turned the switch on and the electrical system went nuts. I do know how to wire however what went wrong is dumbfounding. Lost all the lights and the battery was instantly dead. Put the charger to it and tried to start it, the charger fried...Any ideas would be appreciated!

expensive lights eh? Sounds like a major short circuit and could have fried the computers too.
Get rid of the pretty lights and start testing. How, and where to start? There are regulars on these posts with the expertise. I'm afraid I'm not in this league.

Yes, these were pretty damn expensive lights. You're not kidding. I'm no expert but not too bad or at least I thought with this stuff. Wired everything correctly, grounded properly..Hit the switch and pow...The electrical system went nuts..Trying to boost from the charger and that shot flames out. That is the weird part...Not quite sure what I'm up against here except getting out the bank card right..

I guess it wasn't wired correctly.

I could be wrong though - maybe you are supposed to get flames and smoke!

As Roadrunner mentioned though - your biggest problem might be the fried computer and the price for that will melt the card. Good luck.

I might add the humiliation of owning a luxury Olds Aurora 1997 who keeps disintegrating on me.
It burns 1 litre of oil at every 1000 km.
Since many of the large V8 cars with this engine are doing it, GM has decided to tough it out and tell all owners to take a hike.
GM?
Never again.
Why did i not check the Lemon List in the States that has the Aurora third worst lemon of all!
You would think that, as a McGill Honors Mechanical Engineering Grad I'd have more brains.
Obviously not!
Very Stupid when it comes to cars.
Trusted GM , but never again
