Most US speedo's have Miles on top and kph below...that's fine for RIV....I think the inspection station puts a sticker on saying "odometer in miles"
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

what about individual state sales tax? Some States don;t have em, like New Hamshire. Others have around 5%

so there's:

RIV fee: roughly $200

GST/PST: varies

Air tax: $100

Freight (if new): varies but probably less than $750

Modifications (e.g. running lights): $$?? have no idea what it'd cost to do this

If you buy private, gst/pst can be fudged as most people here in Ontario

But if you're buying used, why would they charge both taxes?

1.2 seems about right...

Hello everyone.

Does the freight ($750) charge count if I go to the US and get the car myself? I'm looking to get a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX and the dealer I'm in contact with didn't say I would have to pay any freight.

The freight charge is for delivering the car TO THE US DEALER, not to you.

Most of the times, the US prices include the destination charge (or freight in Canada). Ask your dealer or check the price on the web (MSRP).

EVEN MORE REASON TO BUY IN AMERICA

GOD BLESS IT

I spoke with the US dealer today and he gave me a price at $26,921 US for the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX (premium package) He said additional charges would be
8% pst,
6% gst,
6.1% import taxes,
$100 air tax,
$209 RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles)
and $67.50 dealer fees.

Does anyone know the step-by-step process from the time you walk into the dealership until you cross the border and bring the car home?
