Yokohama IG10 winter tires?
« on: September 28, 2007, 08:41:21 pm »
Parents just bought a 07 civic for daily downtown commute grind, I want to buy winter tires (195/65r15) now to avoid the rush. The town (brossard for those of you know the area) has really good snow shoving, they do it overnight and roads are clean by 7AM. Downtown aren't so hot thou, and there are a few steep hills (university/peel) to go up/down.

The dealer has yokohama IG10 tires for $120ish, plus honda steel wheels for $60ish, so they should fit well. How are these tires?

Other choices are nordic at canadian tire, and x-ice at costco. nordic is $100, and I think x-ice is more expensive than IG10. Of course there is also nokian, but I haven't checked price on those yet.

Also checked tiretrend.com, search for 07 civic showed no available tire/wheel/package.

I've got some 185/60R15 IG10s on my Civic. I got mine in the fall of 2004, so they may have made some changes to the model since then.

Overall, I'd say they're a pretty solid winter performer. Slightly better traction than the Blizzak LM-22s (H-rated) I had before, but maybe not quite as good as the Toyo GO-2s I had before that.
