I have dreamed of that. Down into Italy, back through France, drop off in Holland perhaps. Take about 6 weeks to do it so start in mid summer. Althought the vacation is cheaper by 6 weeks of car rental, 6 weeks in Europe with the current $/E relationship is a lot of money. He who dies in debt dies ahead. Go for it Ovr! Plan now for next year! |

If I were to do ED, I would want to time it for either Sept 2010 or May 2011. BMW plant MY changeover occurs in August, so Sept 2010 would be a 2011 model (as would May 2011). I wouldn't want to do it in July or Aug (I don't think you can do it in August at all). One would probably order it in June of 2010 for a Sept 2010 ED. The current model and 4.0L V8 engine should still be in use in the M3 up until MY 2012 if the current info I have is correct. After that, the M3 will go to some form of FI engine, likely smaller in displacement and with the different power and torque curve. How about a 2011 M3 Coupe in Interlagos Blue with Silverstone interior?? DCT tranny. |

OK. Time to put a fresh new penny jar on the shelf then. As for timing. I'd want to end the trip at end July so that by the time the car got to Canada there would still be some time before the snow. |

from post 42, Given how I will be obtaining this car, I would hope that I would have it a good, long time; but I know my track record in that regard is poor. |

Ya, I know, I know, I know. My buddy could go with me, is another possibility... It also seems I have "official permission" from the Dept of Spousal Relations to do a ED on a new one, AS LONG AS it's at least a year from now. |

http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278084The new BMW X1 is coming to the US (therefore very likely Canada) in calendar year 2011. I prdict here and now that this new X1 will be a strong seller, and I could even see one in my family somewhere. |

My guess is that it would be priced just below the present X3 pricing range; but that the X3 will grow in size & price (as I think the new X1 is about the size of the present X3). Does this mean that the present 2nd Gen X5 will grow again? Hope not, as it's plenty big already IMO. |

I'd rather have a 3 Series wagon than the X1. The front end and the vehicle's stance are not working for me. |
