Time to update "things" that are happening.

First, the title of the thread. In my car-history, I have had to date 11 BMWs but the last one was an E28, 1985 535i. Sold it in Nov,86. Of the 11 Bimmers, 5 of them were 5 Series - 2 were E12s and 3 were E28s.

Secondly, as most on here are aware, I have been thinking and looking at BMWs over the past number of months but uncertain as to exactly how this last BMW was going to happen, as they are very pricey these days (no big news there). Then, in July past, a long-time friend offered me his 2003 745i as he was getting a new 7 (long story and not to be spelled out here). About 2 weeks ago, this deal changed. I am not getting his 745i after all.

I am getting something even better!!!!  Grin

Got to run for now, to be continued.  Wink

I doubt anybody knows besides his buddy, his wife, and himself.  But the real big news is, he's owned 11 previous BMW's....I haven't owned 11 vehicles regardless of make.

I'll disclose what it is that I am getting (as it is a world of instant gratification !!! ) BUT, first , a couple rules for this thread:
- this is a car forum, comments will only be responded to if they relate directly to the subject car and related cars.
- NO replies will be given to personal queries related to the deal, the financing, my financial status or lack thereof, any friends of mine. I will disclose the MSRP as anyone can look it up on the makers website. No other financial info will be given.
- because there are things I will not speak about, some items may be confusing or not clear; but that's the way it will be.  Smiley

What I am getting is a new E60 BMW - a 2008 BMW 535xi Sedan. The order for the car is already submitted and I have a Production # and a Build Week at the factory in Dingolfing, Germany (100kms northeast of Munich - check it out on GoogleEarth, a very impressive new factory). I expect delivery here about mid December, but could be January if delays happen.

It will be Alpine White, Black Dakota leather, Poplar trim, Premium package, USP port, Rear/side sunshades. Premium package includes auto-dimming mirrors both inside and outside, front Comfort seats-20 positions, heated rear seats, LOGIC7 sound system, Park Distance Control w Visual display, power folding o/s mirrors, and universal garage door opener. BMWs today come very well equipped and there is a ton of standard equipment. I did not order the Sport package as that forces me into runflat tires which I do not want. I am getting the standard (for this car) 17" alloy which I will convert to my winter wheels w 4 snows. I get a space saver spare in the trunk with the 17" wheels; Sport package eliminates the spare totally. In the Spring, I will add a summer wheel package of 18" OEM alloys on summer performance tires. MSRP on this car per the BMW website is slightly over $76K as equiped and before PDI, freight, govt fees, and all sales taxes.

In the course of deciding I test drove the following BMWs - 328xi, 335i, 528i and xi, and 535i and xi. The sport wagon E61 fell out of the running when it was decided that wife will drive the Highlander and her car will be sold once the new one comes. With the HL kept, the sedan is preferred over the E61.

This is a huge event for me, and I'm super cranked about it..... Grin Grin
