Just found out.

So US gov. is bailing out those poor people who made bad investment in real estate by lowering interest rate, and world reacts by dumping on US$..  will it be enough to stabilize economic downturn?

It did not actually hit 1.000000 USD. I am waiting to see what the BOC does with interest rates.

Can you provide a link to support your claim?   >:( The U.S. government is NOT bailing out anyone. The FOMC is NOT the  the U.S. government.  The homeowners who made bad investments were lied to by smooth talking salespeople.  :(

I think he means the 1/2 point interest rate cut yesterday was an attempt to stall off the day of higher rates for the millions of Variable Rate Mortgages in the US that are up for rate renewal now. In that sense, the quote is OK, but confusing a bit.

If I remember correctly, it went to 1.004 before dropping below 1.000 USD again.

IMHO it only counts if it is at or above 1.00000 at 4pm TO time when the market closes and stays that way overnight.   Just my opinion...forex is its own world.

That would be the difference between "hit" and "is worth".  :)  Not that it matters, since pretty well any business is taking cash at par these days.  I assume American border towns take Canadian dollars and have a posted exchange rate, Canadian ones sure do.

I am trying to figure out how it will affect my life. The $ on par i.e.

Consumers here will still pay the same prices as our smaller market or manufacturers dictate. Higher i.e.

If this level is sustained, any changes in price regimes in the offing?
