Not Bad For Almost Three.
« on: September 08, 2007, 04:52:13 pm »
Just finished the Meguiar's Three Step Process and thought I'd share some pictures I just took.  Now just have to decide if I want to sell it privately or not.

Tim, looks fantastic! How long did it take you? Is it hard for beginners to learn? Does it require lots of elbow grease?

Easy to learn but LOTS of elbow grease.  Somewhat tedious.  Very easy to do though.  1st step is apply the cleaner to clean any contaminants from the paint then 2nd the polish which has oils in it that do something to the paint... I think replenish oils in it to bring colour out it also helps remove minor scratches/swirls etc.  3rd is the wax to protect the finish.

With hand wash and chamois dry it took almost 5 hours.

Looks great.    Nothing like a shiny cleaned black car.

Huh?  I have exactly the same remote gas and trunk release in my Civic.   Honda using same parts across models?

Honda's been using that same remote gas/trunk release for I'd say probablly the last 17 years in almost all their vehicles.  I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it.  The only thing I don't like about it is that debris collects in the key lock and under the lever and it's hard to clean out.

True enough.... lease is up in another year but I'm really tempted to get a new one.

5 hours or hard work. The result is amazing.

Are you thinking about the big Accord?

I'm sure a Leasebusters customer or dealer would love to get ahold of your car either to rack up the km's or to resell it because of the low km's.

Pretty sure I'll be only keeping my car 3-4 years this time around, but it'll have a hellava lot more kms than that - nearly have what you do already. Yours is a good find for someone in the market.

PS, that labouring was worth it. VERY spiffy!

Nah.... Dealers seem to only want to give me 18-19K for it.  I've looked into it.  Ah well such is life.  I'm still considering looking for a way to get out of my lease and into a new one without paying through the nose... and that includes not using lease busters.  :)

I'm not sure how it works with leases, but can you not sell it privately (rather than have someone take over the lease)?

Have them give you the current buyout figure and then check and see what used cars are going for in Auto Trader. Your mileage, being so low, is a plus and makes it more attractive. The buyout might be still too high compared to the market value, but if you never try...... ;)
