... I have yet to be able to get all 4 wheels/tires in any car (can in Highlander, but not a car).

We were able to get all four into the Mystique but it had folding rear seatbacks so there was lots of room.  Actually the trunk on that car was incredible for the stuff we could pack into it.

Some upper-end dealerships will store your unused wheels/tires and do both switches for a yearly fee - local BMW shop charges about $250 for that service, IIRC. This saves storing them at home, saves loading/lugging 4 heavy wheels/tires twice a year, and saves on the interior of your vehicle, as I have yet to be able to get all 4 wheels/tires in any car (can in Highlander, but not a car).

I was also able to fit four 15" tires in my Acura 1.7EL. Two in the trunk and two in the back seat with the seat back folded and lots of room to spare. Transporting tires isn't a big deal except for possibly getting your interior dirty.

I was just explaining the service, guys, not necessarily defending it. For some busy ppl, it's a worthwhile service or if you live in a condo with little available storage. Also, older folk may not like lifting heavy wheels and tires in and out of the trunk. You will note I said "upper-end dealerships" so I wasn't intimating that your average Mazda or Toyota dealer would do this.

You can fit them in the Mazda6 hatch too! With the plastic bags over them there is no mess in the interior at all.

The tire place that I bought my winters from offered to store my summers for free. I don't trust anyone so I said no.

I can just get 4 17" BMW wheels in the BMW,  3 in the back seat in bags and one only in the trunk.   Needless to say that they all will fit in the Fit with no fuss just by throwing them in the back with the seats down.  I bet I'll be able to get 4 Fit wheels and tires AND 4 BMW wheels and tires into the Fit.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

What do you drive?  I can fit 4 wheels with tires in my little Bug.   In my Civic one time I had 4 tires and 4 wheels with tires inside the car.   I only did that to get the old tires unmounted, new tires mounted and wheels balanced at the local tire shop.

If the rear seats don't fold forward, you can't get 4 wheels/tires in the trunk of wife's Solara. You have to put one bagged inside rear seat area.

+1

All four wheels/tires in the trunk of the wagon.  No need to fold the seats down and I can still pull the cover over top.  Loved it when I was at the tire shop and noticing some SUVs having to fold down the rear seats to get all four tires in.

What do you drive?  I can fit 4 wheels with tires in my little Bug.

I think the point was all four tires in the trunk not inside the car.  Any car with a backseat can hold four tires.
