1997 Escort (60,000 kms) - Need new tires - suggestions
« on: August 28, 2007, 10:42:28 pm »
I do mainly city driving and am looking for the tire that gives good performance and also most reasonable price.  However, I want to be sure I have decent wheels during the winter here in Calgary.

Thanks

Gerrirep Welcome to the Forum, I would suggest the Cooper brand of tires as they are a excellent product for your car as well as the Hankooks the truck stops are advertising. Michelin are a excellent brand as well and mostly Canadian made on the east coast. The Coopers are a division of Pirelli I believe and are another good tire to consider as well. Your pocket has to make the decision on what it can afford to spend so you do have to listen to what it says. I would let my fingers do the walking and go from there.  :)

Welcome.

I would go to www.thetirerack.com, then put in your vehicle info. They will list a bunch of tires for your car. I would read the reviews for the ones your interested in, then purchase locally or through 1010tires.com  :)

I usually get the best deals locally...just gotta call up many places and compare.

Yes, pick a price range first. There are lots of good tires out there.

Can you find Nokian WRs? True 4-seasons. I was quoted $160 installed and balanced per corner, 215/55/16. Surely cheaper if you go with a smaller size as I suspect a 97 Focus would be running.

Other than that I felt pretty good about the Bridgestone Turanzas I used for maybe 1 month on Ye Ole' Grand Am. They were very decent in the snow too.

Are you running 185/65/14 or 195/60/15?
