10L/100Km, that is darn good. Are you sure you are driving it hard?  Smiley

Not hard enough as they didn't need to stop for gas (only food/bathroom) for 13 hours.  Grin

Can't wait for the rest of this test.

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

Hey James, any chance you can get a nice macro zoom shot on the outside edges of the front tires on that MS3?  I wonder how much abuse they have to take...

Wing, you mentioned the "rattle-prone" glovebox. I thought Mazda fixed the glovebox over a year ago so the Mazdaspeed3 should not have this issue. I had mine replaced under the TSB and it's been solid and quiet since.

My box rattles and this one does once and awhile (not as bad as mine) although it has only 500km on this car as well!

I did not know of a TSB, thanks for mentioning it for the readers, and myself who will not have to take advantage of that, I tried fixing it myself with instructions from a Mazda forum it worked for awhile but has returned.

I did a search on some Mazda forums and it seems now there is a TSB, Mazda will replace your glovebox door for this solution.  It only took then 4 years....

MS3 blows away the GTI performance wise I'm sure. Guess it depends what you're after. I'd love to drive the MS3 someday... Wing, how 'bout you zoom on down here  Wink

Two months ago when you were buying???

It was fixed by then! Roll Eyes

Wing - I'm very interested in this test drive. I'm very curious to see how you compare your experiences with this car and your own 3. Obviously power will be in the Speed3's favour, but overall driving enjoyment is of particular interest.

Sitting here, eagerly awaiting tomorrows update...

I wonder why the new glove box is not in the 06/07 vehicles as the TSB was out in 2006 for sure - I had mine done in October 2006 and I was lazy. Just weird.

I read a little while after the MS3 was released that people where breaking engine mounts.  Has anybody heard more about the issue?

This was mths and mths ago OMG. I guess around Feb/March I started looking for car then after the Buick caught fire. I asked the Salesmen as Probart Mazda, who had no clue. I hadn't decided at that point what car I was going to buy. so that put me off.

I test drove every single car on the market, from a Saturn Ion to Honda Civic.

Well the car is simply brilliant.  I love it so much I just bought one! Dancy Banana I can't wait to pick it up, and I will post some pics.

Also, the door thing does not affect cars made after January 2007 (and I think that goes for all Mazda3's).  They are 'fixed' at the factory.
