2004 BMW M3 Convertible-done and done!
« on: August 21, 2007, 12:02:58 pm »
So, havn't been on in a while, super busy with new job, changes...so and so forth.  Needless to say, after driving a company car for years, a nice pay bump and a heathly car allowance as well as the high Canadian dolllar allowed me to pick up something a little hot.

Black on Black 2004 BMW M3 Convertible w/SMG I had a wholesaler friend bring it up from Florida.  Still has a year left (and 25k) on warranty, which is fully honored btw in case anyone is thinking about buying a US BMW.
The only thing is that since it's out of the US, no heated seats lol.  I'm also not overly impressed with the H/K sound system, it's pretty tinny but the engine sounds too good to care.  Plan on taking to the Saab owners club track day in Oct. if I have the time.  Might want to try some auto x'ing in Toronto.  Not sure where to go though...

Pics to follow.

Yeah, I noticed you guys have a double-header this weekend.  That's okay by me, the more big-dogs that waste their time going allllll the way up to Ottawa, means my crappy showing will look all the more impressive.  And with fewer participants, I'll get more runs in.  :)

Nice.  Can't wait to see some pics of the black beauty.  I see a lot of M3's on a daily basis and I still marvel at the wonderful lines of the M.

WoW!  :)

Buying from the States huh? This puts ideas in my head......... Lots more "enthusiasts" selling their cars that they've kept in mint condition, and ability to quickly know when they're for sale (forums)

Any kind of adjustments you've had to make to the car to bring it into Canada?

Congrats! Care to share how and why you chose the M3 'vert? My experience with one left me unimpressed compared to the coupe.  someday... an M-Roadster will be mine.  :shuffle:

I also preferred the coupe over the droptop.  The shakiness of the convertible left me a little disappointed.  Engine is great, but the car was a shakin' and a rattlin'.  They're still pretty to look at.

well, a bit or rain in TO today, but post pics asap.  I've certainly taken an off-ramp or two a bit quick but I'm super nervous about getting another ticket.  Somehow with two speeding convictions this year, one in Dec. one in April I managed to get full coverage, $1000 deductible for $187/mo through Bel Air Direct, I def. know where the horseshoe is right now...still want to tint the windows and I'm thinking about adding a different exhaust, next summer though.

Tinting on a convertible?  Careful out there eax, the M3 is not hard to get into trouble with.

No adjustments, btw Scotia Bank will lease US imports, using Canadian residual values...opps on them, good for me!  Cab. ovr coupe?  Never had a convertible, liked the idea, it was what came up so I grabbed it.  The suspension is pretty stiff and you can struturally re-inforce all you want but there's still going to be a little flex.  I'm sure it's been cured with the 2008 M3 hardtop.  haha ya MD your right, but I don't think a tint is going to make a huge difference in whether they decide to pull me over or not.  I should probably put on my front plate too, still not sure if I'm going to...the bracket's on 'backorder' if anyone asks...

Eax... watch the tints are too dark -- at night with the top up convertibles are already difficult to see out of -- add the tint too and it's gonna be a guessing game backing up.

With the front plate already off, you've got one step done for Sunday's AutoX.  :)
