Helloooooo! :-* longtime nosee CarFolks...

so,  :drive2: this is me driving my stilFAB!!! Ford FiveHundred without the SIRIUS radio receiver it's supposed to have. :bang:...I know, I know: "buyer beware", but when I bought the car, I presumed, the receiver was part of the deal - being that there was the "sharkfin" antenna on the roof at the rear.

It seems, or so I've been told by the salesman who sold me the car, that Ford made a deal with SIRIUS to put the receivers in 500s, but when the line tanked and turned into the Taurus, Ford only had the antennaes installed and not the receivers...I guess the deal for the 500s fell thru with SIRIUS.

What I wanna know is if any of you folks have knowledge of this - I was reading that the antenna may even be a "dummy"...and if so, am I SOL? :'( ...seems like false advertising, on the part of Ford, to me.

I'd see if the dealership svc dept can determine if there is an actual antenna in there, or just how much hardware is missing, and how much the actual receiver would cost to put in.

Other than that you could always just get an aftermarket sat radio, would likely be cheaper but of course not integrated.
Everything in life is relative.

mmret - I already have the aftermarket receiver and kit - had it in my old car, the Eagle (which I sold btw: as is for $1000)...

When I told the salesman that I had a receiver, he said I could plug it into my new car and that the "sharkfin" antenna would pull in the signal....NOT >:(

...salesmen aren't tradesmen and he was WRONG...if I wanna listen to my SIRIUS in the 500, I have to put the whole aftermarket unit in - wires and plugs and magnetic antenna and cords and cords and cords...WHATTA mess!

Oh well...just wondered if there was a news release from FORD or sumpin, that would let me know that the whole thing is a prob I can't fix.
