It will go nowhere. Nafta does not cover such things.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Sandynw...just don't forget to remove the Stars and stripe flags, decals and "I  BUSH"..bumper stickers before taking it in....otherwise how would the dealership know ya bought it in the US,

I'm sure there are many a dealership in the States...where waving a few thousand $$$$ will get ya anything yer little heart desires....plus there are these Prof.Import Companies that snag and drag the deal across the border for U for an extra 1$K or so.......they have contacts we couldn't establish on a weekend "RUSH TO BUY TRIP".....

\    P.s Make sure they use AMERKUUN OIL, WIPER FLUID and AIR at the servicing ::) :P
THERE IS NO CURE FOR "LOTUS"......ONLY TREATMENT.....

Friend who is buying from the US is going to pick it up Friday.  He used a broker who bought the truck and is selling it to my friend as a 'used' car.

I think a lot people would be interest to see how much it cost to use a broker to get a car from the States

Myself, I am trying to wait until 2010 before I buy another car

I cannot confirm this but I was told the US dealers were sent letters notifying dealers down there that they could no longer sell to Canadian customers.  Any monies exchanged hands should be returned and no cars should change hands.  A friend plopped down his money last week for a Tundra.  I'll wait to see if he gets a truck or his cheque back.  Another friend was in the middle of buying a minivan....apparently now squashed.

It is a fact.  Commences 1 October 2007.  6 weeks left  :skid:

I know one area that is hot right now, and that is Canadians buying motorcycles south of the 49th.  Some are saving up to $6500 Cdn on high-end bikes.
And Honda Canada responds by refusing to honour warranties on these bikes.  Fortunatly most of these bikes have very few warranty issues.  But then many of the buyers live not too far from the border, so if there is a problem, they can return it to a US dealer who will honour the warranty.
And if the Cdn dollar stays where it is, or goes higher, my next vehicle and bike, new or used, will come from the US.
If god didn't want us to eat baby animals, he wouldn't have made them so tastey.

Here is a fact for ya.  Currently, it is more profitable for a Ontario based Honda Power Sport dealer to go into the USA, make a large "retail" purchase with a US Honda dealer for bikes and ATVs and truck that purchase home and then resell it on the floor at CDN prices rather than buy from Honda Canada.  The price spread is that much.
