Lotus Seven inspired roadster build
« on: July 23, 2007, 02:00:57 pm »

please excuse the messy garage but I finally got my Luego Seven to the roller state. Still need to do the panhard rod mount. I think I'll wait until the last moment to position that. Couldn't resist tossing on some of the bodywork and wheels to see how it will look. Nothing is attached which is why its all misaligned.

Suspension bolts were much harder to get in than I thought. Everything has line up perfectly. The bottom ones have to go in first otherwise they are impossible to put in (guess which I put in first).

I have the tranny ready to go in (mount created and welded in). Then the engine hopefully by the engine of the week. After that its a whole huge pile of little jobs - mostly plumbing - brake lines, clutch lines, fuel lines and of course all the electrical. I should have it ready just in time for winter!

I knew a couple who got along five days a week just great until Friday and then all Halifax broke out and they each went separate ways - he to his garage and her to the mall. They were married 14 years. Yup I remember them well. :rofl2: ::)

Thanks folks.

The engine is going to be a Toyota twin cam four cylinder from the mid 80s Corolla GTS (also MR2). T50 gearbox (also from the rwd GTS). My engine was rebuilt (not by me, but previous owner had it prof rebuilt) and has 600 miles on it. I have the stock fuel injection (115hp) or a set of Weber carbs (plus and the related timing stuff - 125hp). I think I'll go carbs but we'll see.

I've test fit it and looks like it should work ok - just have to put in for good.

Far out! That's going to be a heck of a lot of fun when completed, and I do understand the sense of accomplishment you will have when it is completed. I once rebuild an MGA from the ground up, an it still holds a special place in my heart after more than 20 years. Enjoy both the process and the results of that process.

Passenger seat is sitting in garage somewhere - same as driver's seat.

I haven't had much of a chance to do anything on it for a couple months so I pretty happy with the weekend's progress.

Spectacular!  Great progress, AD.  I wish I lived close enough that I could be a toadie to help on weekends like that.  I have minimal mechanical experience, but I'm eager to learn, take direction well and I'm not afraid to get my knuckles dirty and scraped.
