I agree with him being taught on the larger vehicle as if he can master it then he can drive almost any sized vehicle you may own. Definitely teach him on a standard as then he can drive virtually anything in the future which for all anyone knows could even save a life someday just because of this knowledge. I taught all of my 3 kids with the largest vehicles i could find at the time years ago and now they all drive anything they want to drive as they have the experience to do so. I learned on a standard and got my chauffers licence when I started out which is the same as a truck drivers licence now. I even still carry my airbrake ticket as well as heavy truck class licence still.  Smiley
