Lots of people gave advice and it was appreciated.

I got a look at a very similar rim to what many had picked and the thin split spokes exposed so much that my stock brakes would have looked terrible and it was simply too dainty on the Maxima. The shop I was at told me to go have a look at the Mazda speed protege out back and I loved the color of the wheels. A dark grey silver . When I asked them the color they told me hyper black. I was shocked. I said but they aren't black. Gunmetal not black. Its basically silver tapering to black. Very subdued. I didn't like some of the other things about those wheels but it helped overcome my fears of going with this rim.2 other websites had the identical rims listed as hyper silver. When I called them asking if it was a different color than hyper black they said no. So I guess black isn't always black? ;D

Now I immediately called the good folks at tire trends who told me they had none and would not for 4-5 weeks. I would have referred to order from them (local shops flat out told me we don't deal with that company they all pushed less expensive (heavier) rms like motegi Konging etc. I did get very good service from TT but sadly I could not wait over a month. I was able to go to another Canadian online supplier (who I will not name in this wonderfully TT supported forum) who did have one set in stock and who's shipped mounted balanced price (with all mounting hardware was almost dead on with TT. I should have the wheels and rims within a week.

I found these folks also gave excellent service and were very careful about recommending only a tire size they knew would fit. My stock size is 205/15 65. the car will drop 1.4 inches when the H&R springs go in tomorrow. Some other places recommend 235/45 17 which I found strange since they are not approved on a 7 inch wide rim (even though people often do it). These folks recommended 215/50 17 which gives me almost bang in diameter and speedo. I had read of many folks going 225/50 17 with no issues but these guys were adamant that 215 would ensure no rubbing and since the 215s were cheaper I couldn't see any reason they would recommend them if it was not the right thing to do. The tires will be Kumho ASX an ultra high performance All Season . I have winters and have no intention of running the ASX in snow but you never know in NS when you might get snow and slush past October and they also have a very decent 420 tread wear.

If anyone wants info on the service and pricing PM me. As I said TT provided excellent service and they were my first choice they just didn't happen to have stock. Now all I have to do is wait for the boxes, jack up the car and mount the rims. Oh and of course post some pics in the rides section. once again thanks to all who offered advice.

I think these would look great, better than black rims.    We'll find out in a week.

I like the color. Seems like companies are using hyper black and hyper silver as a description almost interchangeably.

I see a lot of Maximas on the Internet with this type of intricate or more luxury looking wheel. Its not my thing but it can look really nice.

It's all personal taste....customizing to owner's needs/desires.
