I witnessed a Grand National with slicks installed and a few other extras on it run the qt mile at around the 11 sec mark years ago at Sparta race track. A young fella from Detroit brought it every Sunday one year. Very impressive for a 6 cyl engine. I heard years ago that the FBI actually bought 500 of them near the end of the run. If true they must of had a lot of fun on the job.  :) ;D

6cyl? I assumed these beasts all had V8's.

You assumed wrong.  It's a turbo V6....

Not all GN with the turbo 3.8 are fast, the first batch had the non-intercooler engine, they were turtle like, compare to the GNX.

Yes the intercoolers made quite a difference in those models of Buicks. They were all the 3.8 V6 engines to start and then hopped up from there. GM definitely had a hit on their hands with those models for sure.  :)

Well the domestic brands did try to and still are reviving old muscle cars like the Impala, GTO, 300, Thunderbird, etc. Look where they stand amongst the rest of the field. It's best to let the GN rest in piece. Or risk humiliation by resurrecting for the modern era.

I've always liked GN's - even if they're mostly engine.

This one is far from stock but with the turbos sticking out of the hood, it looks evil.

Those comments are absolutely hilarious.  First the V6-I6-V8 debate, then the supercharger-turbocharger debate.
