"Interesting" Car Ads in Today's Province
« on: July 06, 2007, 01:27:48 pm »
On Page C35 (Classifieds, Sports and Import car ads) of today's (July 6, 2007) Vancouver Province is interspersed with the following rather interesting ads:

CelebrityOwned: 2006 Import Hatchback.  Driven daily by Langley Burrito Eating Champ.  No working windows.  Comes w/ lavender air freshner.  Only $14,250.

Cat Lady-Driven.  A few little accidents.  Seats 25-35 comfortably.  Low kms - to and from cat park only.  Heat ducts need flushing.  $14,449.  Comes with tabby.

Mechanics Dream.  2004 Hatchback.  Totally neglected.  Sky high kms.  Tons of hidden problems.  The perfect fixeruper.  Won't last at $13,999.

MUST SELL.  2003 Sedan.  Warranty fully expired.  Brakes shot.  Back smells like sour milk.  $14,950.  No reasonable offer refused.

ACT NOW.  Regret later.  2004 Sedan.  Refurbished from defunct driving school.  All decals removed.  $13,500 as is.  $14,000 w/second steering wheel.

All have photos, from the top they appear to be: Mazda 3 wagon, possibly a Kia of some type, Vibe/Matrix, Caviler and Echo.

It should be noted that all the above come pre-printed with "hand drawn" red pen x's through them as if some one had already crossed them out.  There is also another ad on the page that is red circled.  It says in part:

New is better than used.  2007 Pontiac Wave.....Only $13,998* including freight......

Contact info is the BC Pontiac dealers web site.

Funny and effective way to sell a new car, good one Pontiac.  Although not sure what a Pontiac Wave is doing in the Sports and Import section  :D

Anyone else seen this type of marketing?

I noticed the same nonesense in Friday's Vancouver Sun also. My guess is that it went to press before some corrections were removed or edited out. Some of the ads phone numbers were 555-5555 also which are obviously wrong.  ???

The way it is set up in the Province it is obvious to an intelligent person like me  :rofl2: that it is a marketing ploy to get people to buy a new Wave at the same price as suspect used.

And number for the Cat Lady Car is 555-555-MEOW   ;D

I have the Sun also but have not looked at it yet, saw the province in a coffee shop.
