I have liked the look of the CTS since it came out. Reading that list of recalls I would not be tempted by a 2nd hand one unless it was a 2006 or 2007 still with lots of warranty.
I see one can no longer do a "build your cts" on the GM.CA website. I guess production has finished and the 2008 not out quite yet. |

I like the idea of one of these with a manual box. Stylish (subjective of course), good power and quite cheap for what you get. Just squirrel away some money for repairs. Probably quite rare to find with a stick. I've considered a Jaguar S-Type as well but again manual boxes are quite rare. Probably both are on the big side for as well. |

Do you mean X-Type? I thought the S-Type was auto-only. |

The CTS is probably the one Caddy I'd buy As for the wheel hop, it may be really bad when you rev up and dump the clutch but since daddy isn't buying me cars I guess I'll just have to treat them a bit better than that |

Do you mean X-Type? I thought the S-Type was auto-only. The V6 S-Type was (is?) available with a manual transmission. Absolutely love the look, but like most Euros, pretty low on reliability. Unless you put your mileage on 1/4 mile at a time, the wheel hop issue on the CTS-V is way overblown. I really don't like how they look, but the performance and reliability seem competitive with the Euro models. |

Keep in mind that while rrocket said a lot of people complained about wheel hop in the CTS-V, he's a drag racer and probably talks a lot with other drag racers. I'm sure a CTS-V has wheel hop problems on the drag strip, but I doubt it does during spirited drives in the country, and I'm not sure it would even during the occasional track day. |

Getting back to the original article, strong depreciation plus good performance plus good reliability makes this an amazing deal for a used car buyer. I was pretty blown away by the prices I was finding on autotrader.com. I'll have to test-drive one some time and see how much "sport" there is in "sport sedan." If there's enough, this could be a great Scoobie replacement. |
