Thanks for the reply guys.
I've compared the US and Canadian prices, and the model that he wants are something like $20000 US and $27000 Canadian. When you factor in GST and PST difference of $6000 - $6500, that's worth 2 hour trip.
I'm hoping that I can find dealer that will do all the steps required in US. I know I have to deal with Canadian inspection myself.
Would you go through the hassel if you were in my shoes?

I would not call $6000 - $6500 savings a hassel. The process is very simple and paperwork is not difficult.  Make the 2 hour trip!  Use the $6000 - $6500 savings for a trip. The first savings from my US subie, I used to take the wife on a trip.

If its 6000-6500 saving even for a day's work its worth if.
I mean even if you have to take Paid time off its worth it.
Not everyone makes 6000-6500 after tax in a day to justify not having enough time for it.
And as peolpe have mentioned, it is a hassle but not a big hassle and definately worth 6000-6500  IMHO.
6000-6500 down on your mortgage can bring down your mortgage amortization by a few months..

I wouldn't either. Not that $6k is not a reasonable sum to save. But if I wanted to live in the USA I guess I could... for better or worse... but I live here.

That $6k-6500 difference is AFTER you've brought the car across and paid the fees and TAXES that will be due before the car can be registered here?!  Wow!

If more people import cars from the US maybe the manufacturers will get the message and lower the prices here. Then you won't need to move to the US!

Here's a link to another forum, which has a pretty good guide to importing:
