Funny how the Administrator did not move it

Funny how a moderator did.

Is not a Administrator higher then a moderator ;D

:banghead:

If I announced that I just bought a Volvo, how many people do you think would assume I now have a semi parked in my driveway?

When you include "Volvo" in your thread title with no mention of "trucks," I consider that misleading.

Look, I just thought the poor guy was getting screwed, I have no hidden plot against Volvo cars,
it just a link to a story ::)

I never accused you of having a hidden agenda.  A misleading post can be either intentional or unintentional, and I believe your case to be the latter.  I just disagree with your attitude of "How dare you try to correct me?"

A simple, "Whoops, sorry, I didn't know they were separate companies," would have sufficed.

Now now girls, play nice, or it will be handbags at dawn.
Forget "Top Gear" with the egocentric Jeremy Clarkson and his grovellingly emetic sidekicks "we're more important than the cars 'cos we unconvincingly laugh at one-anothers lame & poorly scripted jokes" crap. Fifth Gear is the best motoring program on TV.  http://fifthgear.five.tv ...& click video

Guy I specked out a New Volvo Truck just 3.5 years ago as I was retiring from my 30 year employer and was receiving a buyout as well as my pension. It had the Detroit 60 series engine in it and was a 5 ton with a 28' box on it as well. The cab and chassiss with sleeper and deluxe interior was $78,000 plus and the box on top of it added up to with tax a total of around $110,000. I consider going out as a broker at that time and running only 4-5 days a week for some extra coin and something to do. This was Jerrys Volvo dealership in London who does sell them with the Detroits and Cats as well. He has them in stock all of the time. I caught a bunch of flak from my one son-in-law as he's Cheif Corp Engineer for Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star as well at head office in Portland Oregon so I didn't buy a Volvo after all.   :)

Barrie,

I work for a Volvo Group company. They don't offer the DDC since DCC was bought by Mercedes from Roger Penske some years ago. Mercedes truck is their main competitor. They don't offer Cat either. Just the Volvo engine and Cummins.

Yes, I know the truck division retained the Volvo name and Ford technically owns "Volvo Cars."  The public still identifies "Volvo" with the car manufacturer, not the truck manufacturer.  Even the website you linked to identifies themselves as "Volvo Trucks," with "Trucks" capitalized.

We both seem too stubborn to let up, so I'll just agree to disagree and concede this thread to the engine discussion.

Guy I don't know how Jerry gets them in but he does or did at his dealership in London. This was only 3.5 years ago now so its possible they have stopped by now but I myself would go with a Detroit over the rest just for costing purposes to begin with let alone performance as well. The new 60 series is a great engine with good fuel milage and plenty of power in most of its forms which increases with more HP as you move up of course.  :)
