This is about a Volvo Semi, not a car.

Those lemons remind me of something else...

I wonder what happened with the donotbuydodge.ca guy.
His website has not been updated since June 05.  According to his website his lease should have ended May 07.

This is about a Volvo Semi, not a car.

More importantly, they are two totally separate companies.

This sounds very unfortuante as there is 2 seperate companies involved here with the Cab and chasiss being from Volvo and the engine and drivetrain coming from one of the following which are usually very well built engines. Detroit Diesel,Cummings or Catapillar and the trannies could be Spicer or Eaton. This is very unusual to have this many problems ever with a new unit with such low milage. I have driven the Newer Volvos and they do make a nice truck but very seldom have any more problems then a few minor things unlike this list. If the offer to compensate them is worth less then the value which it certainly sounds like then Volvo is not holding up to their end of the Bargain at all.  :)

Volvo Trucks are powered by Volvo engines or Cummins. No DDC or Cat engines in Volvo trucks.

There are some people here in Brazil that express their regret on purchasing the car in a different way, like these:

This is a Chevrolet Vectra. It says on the rear windshield: "You will only understand when you have one. Vectra. A BOMB". Usually we call "bomb" something that is really a POS, like you say lemon. The Vectra's TV commercial used to say "Vectra, you will only understand when you have one".

Right above the rear badge it says: "You don't like your mother in law? Give her one of this"

On the front of the same car, it says: "Bought a dream, got a nightmare"

I also saw a Citroen Picasso with the following written on the rear windshield: "I HATE CITROEN"

I don't mean these cars are any bad "the vectra actually is", the main problem is when you have an issue with the car and the dealer doesn't seams to be interested in give any help.

There was a guy who had so much troubles with his brand new RAV4 that he made a website too. The engine was losing power, he took the car several times to the dealer and it end up replacing the engine, but the problem remained. The owner just asked for a new car cause he was really tired of all this s...t, then Toyota just sent a letter to him asking for 17K to replace the car...

Long ago had secured the URL SuckersWanted.ca (someone already had a SuckersWanted.com site) when I was in dispute with VW. But they came thru for me eventually, so didn't do anything with it.

Just checked and VWoA currently owns .com now ;D
AQUAMAN64 also posts on BDFD.com!

Yes, but there is no longer any relationship between Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks.  Since Ford bought Volvo Car Corp., the ties have been cut.  The vehicles share a name and that's all.

Also, the model in question is from Volvo's North American line, which has White-GMC roots...  Volvo bought White-GMC in the early 1990s, I believe.

Just to make sure people understand that it is not the same company, so that the car manufacturer's reputation doesn't get tarnished by the truck manufacturer's.

For what it's worth, you should have posted this in the truck and SUV section...

 :banghead:

If I announced that I just bought a Volvo, how many people do you think would assume I now have a semi parked in my driveway?

When you include "Volvo" in your thread title with no mention of "trucks," I consider that misleading.

Obvious case of mismatched tires, I don't think GM is to blame. :)

Guy I specked out a New Volvo Truck just 3.5 years ago as I was retiring from my 30 year employer and was receiving a buyout as well as my pension. It had the Detroit 60 series engine in it and was a 5 ton with a 28' box on it as well. The cab and chassiss with sleeper and deluxe interior was $78,000 plus and the box on top of it added up to with tax a total of around $110,000. I consider going out as a broker at that time and running only 4-5 days a week for some extra coin and something to do. This was Jerrys Volvo dealership in London who does sell them with the Detroits and Cats as well. He has them in stock all of the time. I caught a bunch of flak from my one son-in-law as he's Cheif Corp Engineer for Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star as well at head office in Portland Oregon so I didn't buy a Volvo after all.   :)
