Good buy.
Is the 5 sp model still built in Korea?

My car was built at the Alabama plant on March 19th 2007.  Serial no beginning with a "5".  So it probably sat at some place for a couple months before it was actually delivered to a dealer.

Hmm.. I remember all the 5sp were assembled in Korea at first. I wonder when the switch to NA happened.
No big deal, just personal curiosity.

Filled up the Sonata for the first time today;
540 km for 44.0 litres = 8.15l/100 km or 34.7 mi/gal.

Official figures are 9.6/6.3 and considering that I did mostly short trips in the city and suburban driving with some traffic thrown in, it's not bad at all.

Very nice mileage.

Congrats on the car. The price is just to good to be true. For that money I couldn't get any new car here in Brazil...

How much gas was left (what was the gas gauge showing) before you filled up?

1,150 of the 1,300 Sonatas sold last month were North American built, so don't think much is coming from South Korea anymore. Mind you, can't imagine many manual Sonatas being sold.

The tank holds 67 liters and the gauge was showing just over 1/4 remaining if I recall correctly.

So on a nice freeway tankful, this should be an easy 700-800 km range car.  The benefits of having a 4 cylinder in a car "tanked" for a V6.  The Camry And Altima 4 cylinders come with even bigger gas tanks (70 and 76 liters respectively).

Careener, Sir,

I went to a local Hyundai dealer 2 weeks ago and they had 2 or 3 manuals on their lot.  Looks they ship them all overhere!
