The honda civic si is a fun car to drive. One big disappointment for Canadians is that you cant buy the car with a factory navigation system like you can in the US even though the US car is built in Ontario.. Even the new GTI has factory nav as an option.

Agreed - that should be an option. I can see both sides of the factory / aftermarket preference when it comes to nav - but it's always best to let the customer have that choice.

Choice is good.  If and only if the price is reasonable! 

But who would want to pay $2,000+ for built-in Navigation along with bluetooth?  Pas moi!

I'm very happy with my $200 (portable) TomTom navigation.

2008 Si owner, still love the car, fun to drive and 0 problems after 2 years.  I had driven a friends 2008 Cobalt turbo, and found it fast and responsive, but just not "my" car.  Maybe if I was 10 years younger, lol.  Did have trouble seeing out the back window, with the high hood and spoiler.  Would have needed to keep an eye out for the law City Pig 2

The other thing that sold me on the Si was that it was the only car in this class that was "made in Canada" Thumbs up  The Cobalt was made in Ohio, GTI in Germany, Mazda 3 in Japan.

Not much new in 2010 Si, it seems.  Some trim, (previous) options now standard, and some new colours.  Did Honda put some "real" tires on this model?  The all-seasons on the 2008 weren't good for much, and really pooched the handling of the car.  Summer tire = good, winter tire = good, all-season = mediocre.

Really curious what the 9th gen Si is going to be...

There is a light on the dash that flashes as you approach 8000  rpm . Shortly after that  the rev limiter kicks in anyway.  Don't ask me how i know this. Wink

Oh, its easy to know how you know that.  I leased an '08 SI for a couple of years.  I spent a lot of time in the upper reaches of the tach, and redlined it more often that was healthy for my ears.  It's just so addictive though.  That engine loves to rev, and is happy doing it all day long.  Sure, the 2.0 in that thing might be the gutless wonder down in the lower RPMs, but for someone who loves rowing their own gears, it just makes it all that much more fun to keep the engine singing in its sweet spot.  And don't forget that when it comes to manual transmissions, the SI's is one of the best.   snick-snick-snick.

I haven't had a chance to drive the Cobalt SS/TC (or SC).  I'm sure its a fantastic vehicle if you have a Need for Speed.  However, myself, like others look for the complete package.  I've been in many a Cobalt (non-SS) and the interiors are a huge disappointment.  Not trying to take anything away from the Cobalt's genuine best-performance-for-the-buck status, but the Civic just seems to be a more complete package.
