I hate those big bulky bumpers... they look ridiculous. We know it has nothing to do with "safety" - if you were hit from behind at over 20kph, that little bit of plastic won't make much of a difference. It's for insurance purposes - to reduce the cost to the industry in low speed collisions. It only serves to make our cars more expensive to build...

A comment about the article: did they really have to send an ice scraper to Japan? Come on... they held the 98 Winter Olympics there after all.
