Accord making Knocking Sound when Turning

Hello...

My 2001 Accord is making a "knocking" sound when I turn sharp left turns, especially at low speeds. The sharper the turn, the louder it gets... its been happening for a couple of months now.

Any ideas on what is causing this?

hmm maybe.
My dad checked the CV boots, and he said they looked fine to him (BTW hes no mechanic  haha  ;))

If anyone needs more info, I can try and get it... car has approx. 67,000 kms on it with 98% city driving.

Possibly a loose exhaust hanger bracket or clamp maybe. A front U-joint on a drive axle might be the cause as well. I think its time for a hoist inspection to really find out whats wrong as it could be a dangerous situation which you need fixed now.  :)

I'll call up the dealership tomorrow and see what they have to say.

BTW, could it be the CV joints too?

Possibly, I had this problem in my Subaru it was a loose tie-rod, only clunked turning one direction and the harder / faster I did it the worse it was.

Worn CV joints usually make noise when you apply considerable torque while turning.  I doubt with that mileage it's a CV joint.  It will be something minor.  :)

Is it a single knock or periodic while turning?  A bad CV joint will clunk in time with the rotation of the halfshaft.  A single knock is most likely worn sway bar links, but could be any number of suspension components.  I've just found sway bar links to wear faster on every car I've owned.

A clunk that's not coming from the front could be a loose spare tire or rear suspension components like shocks, shock mounts, or control arms.

It was a constant knock when I drive slowly, turning left (ie. in a parking lot or around my Cul de Sac).

Thanks for the replies+help, it turned out to be the front bushings, they needed to be replaced. $200 fix.

Update...well, it wasn't the bushings. The sound got worse, so i took it in on Wednesday...they decided it was our rear brakes. We haven't got them serviced since new (6 years of city driving). NOW the sound is gone.  :) Perfect.
