4x4 shifter popped
« on: June 05, 2007, 03:29:18 pm »
So.. i went to shift the X into 4wd this morning and instead of going down, the stick shifted to the right and now it's loose and goes all over the place.. won't catch.. it's like having a stick in your hand and waving it around.

I'm bringing it to Nissan tomorrow.. anyone ever hear of something like this?
I got your "jeep thing"... now it burns when i pee!

Nope, that is a weird one.

Hopefully just the pin connecting the shift lever to the tcase linkage and not something big inside the tcase.

You need to be more gentle, it after all just a Japanese toy truck, not tough like a Jeep    :rofl2:

Sounds like the cotter pin may have either worn out or fallen out. I have seen this a coupla times over the years but not very often. The last one was a Olds 442 with the floor shift automatic. The owner had to crawl under with a stick to shift it into drive while another person held the brake for him to get it to the garage.  :)

Hmm.. that wasn't as bad as i had thought.. loose shifter real.. they bolted it back on and it cost me $50 taxes in.

So $0.35 for the bolt and the rest for 3.2 minutes of work, i'm sure =)

I thought i wouldn't get out of there for under $200.

They must have read snowy's post.

That's good, kelli, not very costly. If Snowy would have gone to get it, they would have paid him to get it out of there............ ;D

Good to hear it was nothing serious.  Stuff like that happens once in awhile.

That's great that it was nothing serious, but I'm still kind of curious as to what the problem was.

Is that just a typo and the problem was a loose shifter seal? Or maybe it was a loose reel???

Do they give any details on the service report?

I was guessing she meant "lever", that is typically what would come loose and be bolted back on.

I hope they put a lock washer on it which will prevent it from happening again or at least some anti-seize which will also help keep it in place. Glad it was a simple fix as some of the new vehicles can cost a lot to repair and this time it didn't.  :)

If the truck is equipped with the high compression hubcaps, it will be on the tailpipe. Otherwise, on the radio.

RTFM ..... !!!  ;D  :rofl2:
