2007 GMC Acadia SLT AWDThe new GMC Acadia is a true seven-passenger crossover, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase.  "It's one of the nicest-to-drive vehicles in GM's stable right now," he reports, but horsepower is only "adequate" and fuel consumption is "thirsty".

I saw the Saturn Outlook verions whilst my Ion was in for service - it was VERY impressive, and HUGE!  It gave the H2 on the lot a run for it's money in terms of sheer mass.

Is it just me, or are the crossover vehicles incredibly expensive, particularly where they are replacing a minivan in the product line stable - i.e. the well-equipped but still base CX-9 starts where the loaded MPV GT topped out in Mazda's stable (the 5 is really not a minivan - rather a maxiwagon)...or the Freestyle/Freestar/Edge deal @ Ford.

Too bad about the fuel economy though - imagine what it would be like with a full set of occupants on board (add 1,000+lbs) and the A/C running  :o .

Eeeech!  But, if you have this sort of money, I guess that's not the issue!

Just purchased the Acadia, and have put about 2000km on the crossover already.  All I can say is that GM has done a very good job, putting this car together.  Not too many cons... the only one really being the tranny ... tends to search for gears when going uphill.  But I have been getting about 11.7L/100km so far.  I do more highway driving than city, but I travel on the 401 during rush hour, so the fuel eco is not that bad as the review says.  I think for its size its not bad.
