While that is an exaggeration, I'm surprised you aren't looking at a Sienna, given your experiences.  Even if it does cost a lot more up-front.

Hi All,

Our 1992 Toyota Previa is starting to give us problems at 340000km.

I'm currently looking for a Canadian Value Package Caravan.

If you buy a Caravan the problems will start at 34KM  :rofl2:.. don't expect a Caravan to be nearly as reliable as your Toyota

I was going to say the same thing but figured I would get shot down as a rampant Toyota lover/Domestic hater   :rofl2: :rofl2:

Glad there where others with more intestinal fortitude than me   ;D

If you can get financing (or have the cash) a good used Sienna would be little more.

The Previa was such an interesting van. My parents bought an MPV in late '89 which quickly became popular, while the Previa looked like a futuristic space vehicle in comparison. What was the deal with the optional ice maker anyhow? Little 4 cylinder under the driver's seat   would need the supercharger with the weight of the 4WD. Dual sunroofs, flexible seats (for the time), amber integrated fog lights. I still like 'em.

The Sienna would be a NO BRAINER for us =) Unfortunately our budget is on a constraint at the moment.

Due to crash test ratings, the Caravan is no longer in the running. We are learning towards an Entourage now (base model). If we can negotiate to about 3-4k off MSRP (to ~27k) then we will probably go for this van as it has a 0 down, 0% financing for 60 months promotion right now. This promotion suits our needs, and with the 5-5-5 warranty that Hyundai offers, that offers some peace of mind.

If not, we might fix the Previa (last us another few months...) and wait for another deal, or take the plunge and get the oh-so-good Sienna.

PS: I called Village Chrysler (In Ajax) and spoke to Mike yesterday morning. They have 1 red Canadian Value Package left. He was VERY nice and non pushy, offered to find the one I wanted, in the colour I desired.

I also called the Scarborough location and they had one black one left.

Thanks for all your comments, I will definitely keep you updated!

Funny that, was going to suggest an Entourage yesterday. It's too bad I can't find any info on the Kia Sedona regular wheelbase. Now looks available in the US, but not yet/ever Canada? Would be cheaper. But with the $3-4,000 discounts Hyundai runs along with the 0% financing, they're great values. Comparable to a Sienna but priced between it and a Caravan.

Thanks for the update on what's available out there. I was really surprised by the pleasant experience at Village in Ajax.
