17's on CL
« on: June 03, 2007, 12:10:02 am »
I somehow managed to find time to put some 17's on the CL. Good deal for them too. Sorry the pics are crappy, it was really bright and I was using my friend's camera which isn't so great.

Those look good on the car.  :)

Are the fender gaps larger than 'stock' now? Lower profile tires seem to have that effect on viewing, even though the actual gap is still same.

Looks good.  What are the rims?  Are they wider too?  As ID says, the gap looks big, nothing a bit of lowering can't fix.  ;)

Rims make a difference for sure. Looks terrific, but I didn't know Honda had a 'salmon' color.  ;D ::)

Thanks folks,

AB, doesn't your son have low profiles on his ride? I seem to remember seeing that.

Mdx they are RTX kinetics, only really got them because of the deal I got on them and they looked decent. that gap is the next thing I gotta take care of, but probably won't get to it for a while, it's not a priority for me right now.

Inco, only in 97 did Honda bring out the Salmon colour, special edition ;)

Nothing a set of Eibachs wouldn't fix.  ;D

Just kidding. It looks great. Especially for a 10 year old car!!

looks good. 5 spokes are the way to go.

Where did you get em? What kind of tires did you get.

I'll be lloking for 17s in July when the Volvo goes and the "new" car comes Dartmouth Surplus seems to have the best deals I've seen so far but always looking for the best deal.  ;D

Nice rims.  :)

Were you wearing a white shirt when you took the pictures?

Thanks all.

Toolate, I got the tires and rims at Hubcap masters, it was a great deal. If you go, ask for Gerrard Sullivan, he's the best guy to deal with. I checked out Dartmouth Surplus and they had similar deals, but the styles if rims that they had weren't....well... my style. I too am curious of this "new ride"... did I miss a thread? ???

MKII, I'm just coming up on 212,000 kms.... which reminds me, I gotta do an oil change ;)

dr. spock, I wasn't wearing a white t-shirt. If you're referring the the reflection in the paint (because I keep it oh-so-shiny 8)) that's probably my house. It's white.

Umro, you've got a PM.

I will check out hubcap masters. I never knew they carried wheels. always thought they just did hubcaps. I bought a set to cover over my winter steelies on the Impreza I had. More places you can look the better. My priorities for whells are :1. not too blingy (no chrome) maybe even gunmetal grey or something similarly stealth. 2. Price 3. weight don't want to get heavy wheels that look good but make the car feel like crap.

As for the new ride I hadn't made a thread because my lease isn't up until end of July on the Volvo and I won't be getting the new ride until then.

I'll make a more detailed thread with pictures etc when the time comes. But since you guys are dying to know I'm going from a 2005 Volvo V50 to a 1999 nissan Maxima GLE.

yes sounds strange but the "deal" of getting it from my Dad and the fact that its only got 80 K on it and has been immaculatley maintained and kept in a heated garage makes it too sweet to pass up.

not to worry though. New shocks and springs are already on order. Some subtle appearance enhancments are on the table new wheels and likley a new sound system (more to add Sat Radio IPod and and maybe bluetooth ability than anything are coming.

I plan to do a picture thread showing stock to final product transformation.

They do look good on your car and for 17" wheels I am surprised just how well they fit under the wells. Definitely a nice colour and set of wheels as well as it makes the car look really good.  :)

Looks great - a nice set of five spokes really suit Honda cars, for some reason, I think...

That's kinda why I went for them, but also why I was a bit hesitant at first. I see so many customed Hondas/Acuras with 5 spokes. Wanted mine to be different, wanted to stay away from that crowd. But to date I've only seen the same wheels that I have on a white Cobalt Coupe. Haven't seen anyone else with the same rims.
