I agree that there's precious little "mini" left in most vans.
Me three. I was sitting face to face with a Mazda in a parking lot the other day, and didn't recognize the model, could only see the logo. From the size, I thought it could only be a 5, but it looked too boxy. I saw the owner walk to the car, put his child in via the back
sliding doors, and noted that it was shorter than he was, so I still thought, must be a 5. But when he pulled out I saw it said MPV on the back, must have been an older model in like-new condition. I swear it was smaller than a Mazda 5, no where near as big as newer MPVs or other current minivans. As with SUVs today (RAV4 etc) they appear to be doing a size-creep thing.
Anyway... congrats on the new car, it looks good in that colour. I'm curious, and can't remember from when we looked at it: do the windows in the sliding doors roll down?
