Something Zoom-Zoom this way comes....

Was in the process of importing an S54 M Roady late last year. But that was cancelled whereupon the news of a new addition to the family.  :D
Criteria was simple...

- RWD/AWD
- Sporty car
- Should back seats
- AutoX ready with very little mods
- relatively cheap

Test drove the usual suspects from 330ci, g35c, Z (i know.... no backseat but I thought I always wanted one, until I experienced the Nissan interior!  :P ), NC MX-5, RX-8, TT and even a used MR2 Turbo!

Not gonna go through every eval on the cars test driven but suffice to say we picked the RX-8 due to it's overall harmonious package over the rest of the field. It was designed from ground up as a sports car with no compromises on sedan chassis and whatnot (g35c, 330ci, Z etc...) That thing turns on a dime! It even outhustled the NC MX5 on the curves. The demi-doors were fantastic to fit a baby seat despite the fact that the PegPerego Viggio will see most of its time in the 92x.
This thing loves to revs something I need to get used to as the rotary makes the engine very very smooth. I find myself hovering at 5000rpm while I thought I was humming at 3000rpm.
It's a brand new 06 Silver GT with roof with 50km.

Impressive machine. I haven't riden/driven one, but would like to.

The local dealer here still has 3 '06MY RX-8's with a very handsome sum off. Would be a good time to pick one up because at the price they're advertising, it's a steal.

Too bad about the front plate, as they look really messy on the RX8. Are you in BC?

the front plate is hideous on the car.  :'(  Stupid BC law.
Oh yeah got it for 27k+ tax. shhh..... One of those I know who's who's neighbour's auntie's nephew who is a CxO of something something deal.
I think the best price on remaining 06 in the Lower Mainland is 32995++ cash.

Nice steal ride  :thumbup:

I've only driven one once and loved it.  Hitting 9G was so smooth and the handling was amazing!  Looked down at the speedo and was shocked at how fast I was already going  :o

Nice score - that is a heck of a price. I'd be awefully tempted at that price. I'd be interested in your winter driving performance as my Rx-7 is very unhappy starting in the cold. Its carb'd of course.

Vancouver doesn't have a real winter.  I doubt he'll have problems.

As for the RX8, I have driven by them and the dealers are offering some pretty good deals on them.

Funny thing is the insurance rate is lower than our 92x. It's classified as a 4dr Sedan.  ;D

Stellar deal on a superb machine!  There was a black one at the AutoX event yesterday and I just loved listening to it wail up to 9k.  I remember being awe-struck by how nimble it was when I test drove a few of them too.  If the deals now were available when I got the NC, I'd probably have gone for the RX8 (I did try to wrangle the deal on one of those first). 

If you haven't already seen it, you'll probably love the June issue of Car and Driver.  Comparo test between: '08 Audi TT, 350Z, Mustang "Shelby" GT and RX8 GT...   The oldest, slowest car wins.  ;)

Wow, a 9-2X Aero and RX8?  I would LOVE that stable!  BTW... that's a really interesting garage format you've got there!

    I test drove a few NCs too. I liked the SE very much. The red seats looks hot! But the seller wouldn't want to budge on the price.

These days I no longer care much about paper performance. The traffic just wouldn't allow for much accelerative prowess. I'm not in the delusion that the 8 is a beast. Not so on the straightaway races. My stage II 92x will keep it honest. What I like about the 8 is that unlike cars' these days whereby weight increases are the norm which therefore requires high hp for motivation the 8 is still nimble and relatively light. It doesn't punish the occupants on daily jaunts and yet at the first sets of curves it will dive right in deep with excellent brakes and suspension combo. The drivetrain is buttery smooth. That's why despite not having the requisite high-hp immense torque numbers, the rx-8 remains a real driver's gem. Just like the miata.  :)
