I used to relish every time I buckled in. But, that has changed. Thanks to a lack of new roads and massive population increases in our city, traffic has become less "driving" and more "creeping and hopping." Day to day, driving offers little more than a chance to sit and listen to the radio or a CD.
Even on the highway, things are different. Highway 2 between Edmonton and Calgary has always been a boring straight line, but it was quite stress free. Today, it's door-handle to door-handle and bumper to bumper the entire trip with most people paying little attention to actually driving. Today, I avoid the highway as much as possible.
So, the mountains are now the sole source of driving pleasure. But, that is changing too. Increased trucking traffic has jammed up many parts of the mountain areas.
The memorable driving experiences are becoming fewer and fewer...
