I had two friends in Saskatoon get their cars broken into for the aftermarket stereos, one in broad daylight in the parking lot of one of the malls. One good thing about oddball OEM designs is they are not really 'thief bait'.

That is why I never replace the head unit when I go aftermarket. New amp, speakers, and wiring only.

And some day your hearing will be shot and you do not even have to worry about upgrading anything ;D

Can't you push it back to the hole? Or it doesn't fit there anymore?

Nope.  It won't go back down.  There must be bent metal in behind it.

Yeah, similar thing happened to mine, there was bent metal, wouldn't easily get back to shape, I used a plastic laminate to prevent water from getting in. With the club so visible, you'd think nobody want to steal it. Put some alarm stickers on it.

Is that even worth fixing. I mean it is barely noticeable.

You should be banned for saying something like that in a car forum!  :P

Barely noticeable?  It's time for your vision to be checked.   :o

Besides, with the door handle surround being that far off the door, that gives rain and debris a chance to get inside the door and cause rust.

Whoops my bad.  I thought the second pic was lifted just to show the little bit of scraping. Yup that handle is FUBAR. Just whack it with a rubber mallet or kick with your foot. At this point you have little to lose. ;D

I took the car for the estimate today.  The grand total: $531.67, with $301.59 of that being Labour.  The total includes painting the door, which might be a mistake considering the minimal amount of paint damage.  I don't want to have a door that doesn't match the rest of the car.  The estimator did spot a slight indent in the door that I had missed.

Off to the bodyshop tomorrow to book an appointment.

It was an oversight.  But I will admit that I would rather drive them than wax them. I never did get the point of fawning over a piece of metal...When my vehicles get old they look the part. Engine and mechanicals are always top notch though.

I'm finally taking my car to the bodyshop on Tuesday morning.  Let's hope it comes out looking like new.

I've had that happen three times to my Dodge Dakota now.  It's like they take a screw driver and try to jam it under the lock.  First time they did the driver's side, second time they did both doors, last time they did the passenger door.  FYI, all three were in Surrey, BC and they have never actually got into it.

Just got my truck back from the last one and it looks great.  Of course it looked great before these pricks did this and cost me $300.  Now, I will not park and take public transport anymore.  Screw the environment, it's costing me too much not to drive.
