Hey Jaeger, thanks for the good pictures. You know we do share your joy!
Just wondering: how's the handling? I know Nissan has basically redone the chasis, but the VQ35 is kind of heavy.
The handling is really quite good - for a large-ish FWD family sedan. It handles steady-state cornering (on-ramps and such) very well. It takes a set and digs in most reassuringly. Body roll is minimal. Steering is responsive, if somewhat over-boosted at low speeds. My daily driving doesn't replicate the rapid lateral transitions of a slalom run, but I expect that in this scenario the mass and tallish height would make themselves known. Still, some mag reviews have recorded pretty darned good slalom speeds for a car in this class - and all on some decidedly mediocre OE rubber.
Overall, I would put its handling behind the two other cars I came closest to buying - the TSX (smaller, lighter, though surprisingly with a
larger turning radius) and the Mazdaspeed 6 (smaller, 4WD, 18" performance summer tires and a more dedicated sports suspension). I found it handled a lot better than many others (Camry SE, Maxima, Passat, Accord, base TL).
I expect that with a mild drop and 18" wheels with sticky shoes (the only real future mods I have in mind) the handling will be as good as anyone could reasonably expect.
