Supra Fenders ROLLED!! (pics)
« on: April 07, 2007, 08:57:05 pm »
I rolled the Supra fenders to clear my massive 325 series tires.  It turned out really well, and there is no more rubbing!  Here are a few pics if you've never seen the process.

How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Neat.  I've heard of people doing this on their Civics to clear their unnecessarily big tires...  those 325s are HUGE, though.  IIRC the Dodge Viper comes with 315 or 325 standard!

Only needed in a few scenarios.  1) Improper offsets 2) retardly huge tires.  325 is pretty wide though I'm running 275's any more and the car won't move.

Thanks rrocket. I was curious to know how it was done. Pretty neat!

There are many posts on the web from Mazdaspeed6 owners having rolled their front fenders. The Speed6 would be in a 3rd scenario because of its factory offset. Some have reported experiencing rubbing just from going 10mm wider (225 vs. OE 215). I would love to have wider tires but I'm not ready to do this to a new car...

Sorry..I made a typo.  My tires are 315 series.  I ran 275 prior to these wheels.  275 must be retarded-huge on the S2000....WOW!!! I thought they were pretty beefy on the Supra.  They must look like steam roller wheels on the S2000  :o

To be honest, I need all the tire I can fit.  If these don't hold the power adequately, I'll be moving to a more race-oriented compound.  My tires look massive in person..but not quite as big in the photos.  Car is dirty because I was caught in a SNOW storm on the way home from fender rolling!  SNOW!!!!  Sigh......

Just to clarify from your photos, does the "roller" basically just bend the inner lip of the fender upwards?

^^^^You are correct, Cord.  However, in the hands of someone with skill, you can also do fender flares with this same tool....

Rolling the rims is a neat trick to do as long as you have your tires on the inside of the edges still. I would be careful just how much of the tire sticks out over the edges as there is laws against it being very far at all.  I for one do understand the need for the wider tires as I know the Hp you produce is more then enough to spin them like crazy. Got to be awful hard on the rear tho as the torque will wear the teeth at a early rate I would think. A certain amount of slippage is probably good for it to take the stress off of the gears. Have you got traction bars on the backend?  I am running 11" rims on the rear with about a inch of rubber on each side as well. They hook up after around 30 feet when I have dumped the loud pedal hard enough.  :)

Barrie,

Traction bars work with solid rear axles.  I have IRS.  And the stock rear diff is good to beyond 700HP, so I have no worries...

Looks great! How does the rolling process affect the paint?
