It depends on what the mileage constraints are too, no? If he's allowed 40,000 kms over the two years and during the 8 months that he has it on the road each year puts on nearly 20k, then he's still getting his money's worth, in my opinion. Anyway, nobody said a roadster was a practical purchase.

It would cost me more for winter tires than it costs me to run my subaru in the winter. I planned on buying it and I'm really leaning towards buying it now. Therefore it will be mine. If I don't buy it, I will put lots of KMs on it, which is all that really matters. I'm over 40,000km now |

The only problem with driving a sportcar/convertible in the winter is ground clearance, but a convertible with 50/50 weight balance would be really fun to slide around in the snow. If you are thinking of buying it, then's that a different story. The cost of running the car in the winter isn't the only thing, you have to factor in how much you are "suffering" by parking it. If I were leasing it, and was well under my mileage constraints, I wouldn't park it just to maximize my enjoyment of it. A set of winter tires with rims is only going to cost $1200 or so. And you could have sold the tires/rims after the two years. So running winter tires is not that expensive. (Message edited by rayt on November 26, 2004) |

^^^ my hero. anyways jamesbe, it is not a judgement call on what you do with the leased s2k. if you buy it fine, which I do hope you do since u're basically helping "the next buyer/lease company" by taking good care of it if you choose to return it. Both parties will not thank you. Anyways leasing a car and not fully utilising it during the lease period doesn't add up for me especially if its gonna be returned when lease ends. |

You want to lease a car and put it in the garage? Go ahead. You want to drive it year round? Good for you. What you do with your money is none of my business. |
