The drivetrain from the Edge will find it's way into the Freestyle next year and after that I will have to make a decision between the two.

Seriously though, this is, I think, the most nicely-sorted car Ford has produced in a while. I drove a Fusion last year and thought it was alright. The Edge was far nicer - granted, it should be, as it's a fair bit pricier - and a strong effort in what will be a very competitive market segment, what with the new Hyundai Veracruz and GM's Outlook/Enclave/Acadia trio (which I haven't driven yet).
I think the only thing that will distinguish the Edge from the Taurus X/Freestyle is the Edge's lack of a seven-seat option. I think, however, that the Edge might be the better seller, given its more SUV-ish looks. The Taurus X/Freestyle is a nice-looking vehicle, but kind of nondescript in comparison.
