Still no match for the Mazda3 when it comes to looks, both inside and out.  Much better than the old one, but the Civic and the 3 are very strong and the Sentra is still a step behind.  However, gadget freaks might go for them.

really? but sometime high tech also has problem, the LCD gauges can't read thur polarized sunglasses as reported in caranddriver

Had the chance to drive one a few weeks ago, this is a very nice small car.  Super smooth and quiet comparing to the Civic and 3, not all of us are interested in a go-kart type ride.  I much prefer the interior finish and layout of the Sentra, this car will please an older generation interested in small cars.  The CVT is cool and you will find yourself driving illegal speeds in the city very quickly.  Sentra, Elantra and Corrolla do not aim at the same crowd, on the other hand it looks like the new Lancer is a competitor to the 3.

I rented this exact model car for a week. This is a very nice car, you don't snooze when you are sitting in this car, interior is lively looking, all the controls are easily reachable. Nissan makes the best CVT and is quite apparent in this car, when you get used to it. Impressively equipped.

However, this car is not suitable for driving around children or a starter family car, most other cars in this class are better for that purpose. The trunk and the doors snap back at you, the trunk opening is slot like small opening, not suitable to manage bigger strollers and children's stuff. I had this car in winter, hot air takes too long to come out of the air vents and doesn't have sufficient pressure.

I haven't driven it, but I really can't get past the styling.  It just looks WAY to high relative to it's length.  Top-heavy, ponderous and ungainly are the visual messages I receive.  The Versa hatchback I really like.

The wide seats may get people to drive it home alone.

I think the styling is quite handsome.

Would choose the 3 all-around or the styling of the Civic, but for larger or comfort-oriented folks they may go for the Sentra (or Versa, but Sentra looks more 'mature'). The reliable and fuel efficient Corolla is getting a bit old, the Elantra up there in price, Lancer going sporty, so Sentra may find an audience.

I am just not sure what Nissan are trying to prove with this new Sentra. And not sure where it belongs from a styling point of view. High, stout, but not muscular. The tail light treatment seems out of place too.

The Versa styling cues are much better - particularly the strong Renault influence which comes through loud and clear. One of the few negatives to the Versa is the way the rear seats don't fold entirely flat - that's a downer for a hatch, imo.
