Low price, good fuel economy, practical design.  Sounds like it could be a great deal for small businesses.

I though i read somewhere that the short wheelbase caravan is getting axed for the next version.  If true, this will fill in nicely for the cargo caravan versions.

A good idea.  Chevy had to do something.  PT is still outselling HHR quite handily.  I wonder if Chrysler will do the same with the PT should the HHR panel van option start to do well.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

The PT Cruiser is handily outselling the HHR in Canada by quite a substantial margin (they're nearly on par in the US), however to different clientele. GM is selling HHR as a retail vehicle, while Chrysler now sells primarily to fleets (I would imagine earlier in the life cycle, retail sales were much higher).

To compare, in February:
- PT Cruiser 414 units. Of those 334 were 5drs, 95% of which were sold as fleet
- HHR 320 units, of those under 3% were sold as fleet

Very interesting.  I assume the difference of the PT numbers to be convertibles?

Looking at it again, I wonder why they did not hollow out all the plastics.  How many cargo versions of vans, whether they be Caravans or E series Fords have interior plastics in the cargo area.

Yeah, those plastic bins where the rear seats would normally be don't look like a particularly efficient use of that space, though they do make for a completely flat floor. :-\

I see quite a few PT Cruisers covered in advertising. The HHR panel would lend itself quite nicely to that purpose as well. Good for GM, trying something a bit different.  :)

I think it will be a very niche vehicle, as I believe it will have limited usefulness. But there are some people who will find it attractive, and attractively priced. Agree on the plastics. Bigger concern for me is the lack of a barrier between front occupants and cargo behind.

I frequently see Scion xBs used in the same way.  Small businesses who also use their urban runabouts as advertising care more about whether the vehicle is eye-catching  than whether it's attractive.  I think the HHR panel van would do a nice job in that respect.
