It actually does help solidify the body a little but the body on the S2000 is already very stiff so not much.

ouch.  when installing a tower brace bar in a friends mustang gt, he had to leave the garage during the drilling.   he paid me back that evening by sawing thru my thumbnail and thumb with a hacksaw.

have fun with the mod.  it will make a nice mounting point for a handycam...

This is a functional mod, it will allow me on the track as the S2000 is not allowed at track days sponsored by CASC.

Also allows for the addition of mod #3 that is yet to arrive as well as mod #2 which comes tomorrow or Tuesday ;)

Proof it is a functional mod...

I would imagine that roll bar holes would play hell with resale value, no?

Not like the holes will be visible and they can easily be plugged.  I will be able to turn the completely back to stock with no problems after.  This is why I went with bolt in and not weld in.

Nice one JB, does it fit under the roof when up, or do you have to have the roof down all the time?

Also why do they come up with such ridiculous rules governing convertibles on track days, if they are safe enough for the road that should be good enough!

Can you track a car in Canada that is designed without a roof such as an Ariel Atom or Ultima Spyder?

I would think the Ariel Atom has a good enough roll bar, as well as the Ultima.  But ummm Bob.... we don't really get those cars.  The Atom can be had but is not road legal, so you have to trailer it to the track.

I think this has been said 1000 times, your in for a shock, corolla's and civics are about the only thing you see on the road here ;)

Oh and yes it fits under the top.

I don't believe it, I won't believe it, la la la la la!!!   :rofl2:

So are the rules that if it is a cabrio it has to have a roll bar?  That ain't too bad then...

Does the bar sit above your head when you're in the driver's seat?

I hope so!  I haven't installed it yet, but Mod #2 should help ensure this.  Actually most guys 5'10" or less have no problem so I should be safe easily.

...

I dunno, I watched a guy roll his E36 M3 coupe at a track day a few years back. The car came to rest upside down in a swamp, too. He walked away with no injuries, but I would expect that the outcome would have been very different if he had been in a convertible (especially so if it had no rollbar).

You're right, things can happen on the street also, but I think it's way more likely to happen when driving at 10/10ths on the track.
