A FORD FOCUS CABRIOLET?

Why does EUROPE get all the nice cars?

This car can even be packaged with both Voice Acticvated BLUETOOTH and a 7" DVD NAVIGATION screen

http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/focuscoupecabriolet/-/foc_cc_intro/-/-/-/451937

What do we get?

A bland "North American" Focus (last picture on post)

Me, biased? No...
I only drive Swedish, Japanese or German.

A definite difference of opinion here. Its certainly not ugly the lights are nice. But its just an average looking car imo.

"Why does EUROPE get all the nice cars? "

Because they are prepared to pay more for cars than we are in NA. Why are they prepared to pay more?  Because the Mfrs charge more. Why do the Mfrs charge more? because people are used to paying more.

I think that the EU market is actually more competitive than NA in some respects.  they get every Mfr we get and some ( Citroen,Fiat,Skoda etc. ) that we dont with all of them competing hard especially at the Ford Focus size of car.

Take a simple example.  Look at the golf/rabbit versions and options we get compared to the EU, or maybe the Honda Civic versions are a better comparison as neither the EU nor NA are Hondas home market.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Yes, you have made some good points.
The starting price for the Focus Cabriolet is 16 000 GBP which converts to $36 000 CDN for a Focus!
WOW that is huge. I think I would have to buy a bus pass if I lived in Europe.... YIKES

The Focus CC is almost GBP4,000 (CAD$9,300.00) cheaper then the EOS.
In the UK the EOS start MSRP GBP19,695 or CAD$45,000.

And also a factor most in North America do not mention or know is that the prices listed in Europe are "on the road price",  so in reality the Focus CC would base around CAD$28,000.00 in the UK market.

yes MkII    thats why one has to compare UK prices ( and most other EU prices)  with our on the raod all taxes paid price.   In the UK the VAT (GST) is 17.5% which when you allow for duties and air taxes and stuff is close enough to our 14%  charged on a car price with all the freight/pfd/airtax etc  included.

The Civic SR is 16000gbp  on the road which would be $34-35000 CAD on the road for example.

My point was to say the Focus CC price is not so terrible. I suppose the main problem is North America does not realize how much more car a euro Focus is in comparison to what North American Focus is. Plus every time I see these price comparisons, euro-NA vehicles, the on the road price is not part of the comparo.
Also besides the VAT in the UK you have to add RFL(Road Fund Licence) FRF (1st Registration Fee), and isurance group rating.

Why does EUROPE get all the nice cars?
Because most North Americans see cars as a fancy pair of shoes and Europeans see them as houses.  They buy cars as long term investments and they're willing to pay more for a given car.  Here (mostly in the US) we change cars very often (for stupid reasons) even if they're in perfect working order.

This car can even be packaged with both Voice Acticvated BLUETOOTH and a 7" DVD NAVIGATION screen
Useless toys that most drivers will forget even exists in 2 weeks ... like most flappy paddles gear box.  ;D
