You know that and I know that but fur cryin out loud - did you have to remind everyone.  Grin Angry  I'm out to beat GD's record maybe.  hello

Haha, that's funny. I'm with you inco, it's fun shopping for a car. Why not prolong it?  Grin

Maybe I had too high expectations after looking and drooling over the first pics released, with the nice leather interior. I finally tried leather (TSX), but I'd be just as content, if not more, with cloth seats (you don't need a bum warmers Grin.) Mainly though, I guess, given its exterior size, I expected it to be larger inside and was disappointed with that.

I agree though, the dash/steering wheel - I liked those.

Half the fun is the research, comparing, test drives....but not the actual purchase process. I sometimes feel I know more than salesperson.   I do the same with all other purchases (big screen purchase last year took me 6-8 months!)

Other half is the enjoyment of you're new wheels!

Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Drool

But I agree with others: $$$ is a little high. This will bring Mazda in a whole new territory. Time will tell if it can succeed where VW hasn't.

Ford and GM share their 6-speed auto and they have been criticized many times for their laziness, reluctance to downshift. Good thing Mazda is using the Aisin until Ford/GM sort out their calibration assuming they want to...

The cloth on the Acadia is very tough durable feeling stuff - but rough and not very soft or plush. It looks like it's the same stuff that would come out of a full-sized domestic truck (the Ram has nearly identical type of material). Also, it's very monotonous with no real pattern or colour scheme on it. Very disappointing.

The CX-9 has more fabric-y seats... a little fuzzier and upscale like what would come out of a car. Judging from photos, looks like it could wear, crease, or flatten easier tho. Still, leaves the better impression of the two if you're looking at them.

The Edge is not intended for any off-road use.

I don't think any of the crossovers are intended for off road use. Twisting of metal from a unibody would not have a good end result. The twisties would twist 'em. Full frames for serious off roading or very beefed up uni's at least.

Also wandered into dealer yesterday though and sat in the 9 and came away with a much different impression Julie. Mind you it was a black interior but the whole inside on the GS feels very nice and that standard leather wheel - ooh - 'tis nice. But dog gone it - why no butt warmers.

Maybe you need to see a few more cloth interiors to appreciate it. It's better than the GMC Acadia and that 9 dash is quite nice too. I could live with it.

Don't forget she's coming from a TSX.
All Mazda interiors look cheaper than Acuras of the similar price range.

Aisin huh, that's what the new AT Jetta/Rabbits are using with it's 2.5 engine.

Nobody likes to play with soft balls.  Too slow and I don't like to 'pitch to the same team.'  Wink

Both the FP and the Star reviewed it as well last weekend. They all praise it for what it is and all more or less agree on the shortcomings.

It's still a great vehicle and I am really impressed with the package. It's on my short list.

Healy has had in it for GM since Lutz called him out a year or two ago. He's usually quite down in his reviews as a whole though (tho I agree the Acadia's seats are a little low, and he actually gave the vehicle a good review before sampling the CX-9). He just seems to come across as a glum never happy guy. Thanks for the linkie.

Thanks for the link. Good review. Funny because I'm steering a family member toward the Acadia (she finds the CX-9 too much like a car -she wants a "truck"...-) and the CX-9 is on top of our list when comes the time to replace the Mazda6 GT... But who knows, the new Highlander may change that...

And if/when we buy a CX-9, I'll bet the following year a Speed version will be released with a twin turbo V6 and I will be  Cry.  I will likely have to make a "Julie move" then.  Wink  Cheesy
