06 Civic Software upgrade?

Hello all,

Today, my dealer called me and said that my 06 civic sedan needs a "software upgrade" that will help the car runs better in the winter time?? What is that about? Anybody know? They said this upgrade is mandatory and should be done as soon as possible; it is a 1.5 hours service that is covered by warranty.

Just ask your Honda service advisor what the fix is regarding.

If you're not having any obvious problems  just have this update done the next time you get your oil changed.

Finally have it done today, even the tech don't even know what is it for better driving?? Anyways after the upgrade, when i drove the car I feel the car accelerates slower but the engine is much quieter. It seems to like to rev more now. Before I can usually just push 3k rpm and the car will move really quick. Now... I have to push to 4k rpm =_=, anyone have similar experience?

I know Honda issued an update for the drive by wire throttle in the Si.  Not sure if it was issued for the rest of the line, but that's what it sounds like to me.

My friend just did the software upgrade today as well. She phoned me after the so call upgrade, asking me if i can "feel" the car slower now. So I guess is not my own gut feeling on this. =_= May be I should try to call Honda Canada and see what is this all about =_=

do these cars have auto tranny?
maybe they have change the shift points, to shift at a lower rpm to get better mpg

Got a Letter from Honda Canada.

The reason why Civic with auto transmission need software upgrade

"To improve the cold weather performance of the Linear Air Fuel (LAF) sensor on the catalytic converter, the software in your vehicle should be updated to the currecnt version"

... ?? so what is that suppose to mean lol

Yes but not with a Honda. My Ford Five Hundred does the same thing since they reprogrammed the transmission/computer/thingy...
