Snowie,

I read the vaious threads, but I can't seem to find the actual text of the TSB.  I'd like to see what models/years are covered under the TSB.
No place I'd rather be...

I believe it was up to and including 2004 models. I will ask my Subaru dealer friend.

No, they said they have a huge credit line with subaru canada, and can get me almost anything I want off lease. I was interested in a wagon but the sedan suits my needs too, and I already have a minivan so hauling items is taken care of. All this car needs to do is haul @ss! And insurance isn't that much different for either/or.

They will give me $2500 for my car plus pay for my last month payment for me ($370) for my '00 Focus, but they can't give me 1K over book value for my car if I get something else. Plus, something else would cost more. This car was a trade-in for a BMW 530, so they can have some leeway.

Maybe I'll call them in the morning and see about switching to the Subaru warranty. The Subaru warranty has a $100 deductible, and the other company, Guarantie Nationale, is $75. It's $2800 before tax though... :-\

The Subaru warranty has a $100 deductible, and the other company, Guarantie Nationale is $75.

Anything but a genuine Subaru extended warranty consider useless.

It's $2800 before tax though

and for good reason.  However, ABSOLUTELY make sure this vehicle has had all the mandatory services and that they are officially stamped in the owner's warranty book.  This re-seller could sell a $2800 Subaru plus extended warranty and then Subaru could turn around and deny a claim because there is no record of certain mandatory services as related to the claim.

Generally, a clutch job ideally requires more parts than what is necessary to make it work like a pilot bearing and pilot bushing which are not part of a clutch kit so you would need to police that so you don't re-visit the same area again.  Although, should not a Subaru dealer re and re the clutch if your looking at a Subaru warranty?

Getting an extended warranty on cars like the WRX is a good idea.  Since WRXs are popular with the modding crowd.  There may be concerns Subaru Canada may deny to cover it if there's any modifications to the car.

I don't know.  There are wiser people here that may offer you a better advice.

Unless it's a factory warranty, forget it.  Aftermarket warranty companies do things like go out of business, deny claims and are terrible for fighting like mad to keep you from claiming.  At $15K for a WRK, it's over $20K less than a new one.  Just be prepred to spend a few bucks on some repairs, but take solace in the fact that you're still thousands and thousands ahead...

Check out the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve for any Subaru models, I bought mine for a Hyundai using a Subaru forum code and got 10% off.

Which is to say it's been to 220 km/hr.

The speedo couldn't point to anything over 220km/h.
