What would you do?

I'm toying with the idea of getting something else as the family hauler.  The Acura has been fantastic and continues to be a great vehicle for us.  However, there's always options right?  What would you do and why?

Are you bored of it?

If the MDX is great, then i'd probably keep it until something came along that i /had/ to have.

Nothing on that list is screaming at me.

Keep the current MDX and when the time comes, get off the SUV wagon and get yourself another fun to drive car that can also be a family hauler.  I'd be thinking 5 series wagon or V70R...

If being a high-roller as yourself, I would opt for Audio Q7. X5 seems common nowadays.

You can't beat the utility of a minivan. Its very difficult to shop a minivan for someone else, seating arrangement and handling/movement of the seats is different in all of them, you must try moving them around to find your sweet spot. (Been shopping with bro-in-law for a minivan over a month, was set on Quest, then settled on Sienna due to the seat arrangement which he prefered).

I agree with Scaerio.

The Touareg 3.6 (V6) and 4.2 (V8) come in under 70G I believe.

The 535XiT come in over 70G so that is out.

If you still want AWD the Sienna comes with that.

In the world of SUVs I really like the looks of LR's.  Had a LR Sport following me following a S4 Avant through the Laurentians one day.  No problems keeping up on any section.  Don't know anything else about them (reliability?) though.

You make this so easy MDX. A Minivan of course. ;D ;D

Your wife is already leaning that way - maybe one or two more little ones running around? She must have plans...

And to top it off the folks at DC have just made it a no brainer. They might call it the family van but you could call it the conference room. Or romper room at night and conference room by day. Of course the plebian Dodge won't do so you would go for the more upscale Chrysler to keep in on par with the MDX.

What with those reversing chairs and pop up table you would then be able to play with the family and also have your meetings in there driving from place to place. A mobile meeting mama - perfect for the family man who is Miataless from time to time.

Talk about productivity gains. Wow. Think about the possibilites. YUP - you need a van. :rofl2: ;)

I agree.  The only option on that list that I find remotely interesting is the X5, and I doubt I would sell a perfectly good MDX to have one.  :)  Save the money and spend it on the Miata.  ;)

Or, if you really want a new car, the B9 Tribeca is a good option.  :D

The thrifty cheap bastard side of me would say to keep the MDX, especially if there is nothing wrong with it.

The new Odyssey is nice though...
Internal combustion thrust I trust

It must be hell to be so poor!  :'( :'( :rofl2:

As far as this option - Look into Land Rover LR3 - unless you want to spend most of your time getting to know the service staff, I'd say that was a terrible choice.

Honestly, nothing wrong with keeping the current MDX, especially if it keeps the other half content and you with less expense.

I happen to really like the new MDX's looks. I can't believe how Audi it is from the rear, but overall it's much more luxurious and the interior is superb. Bound to be better performance too.

The Q7 isn't a bad value for such a large import SUV, but the 3.6L is likely a tad underpowered compared to the MDX. V8 more of a gas guzzler.

Sienna AWD would be a nice van.

The Benz R-Class would be a neat solution I think. Big, but neat.

Or could get a minivan and a sporty car for the $70G cap set.

I'd keep the MDK until you actually need something bigger. Minivans are super practical but aren't much fun to drive. Then get a year old Quest.
